Motors and Drive System for AMPTS II System
Customer: Bioprocess Control
Bioprocess Control is a technology and market leader in the area of advanced instrumentation and control technologies for research and commercial applications in the biogas industry.
Bioprocess Control wanted an upgrade of their existing product, the Automatic Methane Potential Test System (AMPTS). The old system was designed to control 6-15 DC-motors. Bioprocess wanted to convert this system to be stepper motor controlled solution for a direct drive without the need for a gearbox.
Stegia assisted Bioprocess control with both mechanical and electrical engineering and developed a motors and drive system. Some of the activities performed were:
- Design of stepper motor driver PCB. Each motor has one board attached to it.
- Design of a Master Control Unit (MCU). Each MCU can control 1-15 motors.
An anodized aluminum housing was also designed as a housing.
- Molded wire harness for connection between motors and MCU.
- Design of plastic cover for protection of the driver PCB.
